Dave's Testimony

"Dave's Testimony"

David Carl Warren was born in Orange, California, and raised in Costa Mesa California.  He was brought up Catholic and became an altar boy, performing the Latin Mass from the ages of 15-17.  At one point Dave seriously considered becoming a Catholic Priest.  During this time, when Dave was 16, his mother passed away.  His father was in the Military, called to action in Vietnam for most of Dave’s childhood.  With the passing of his mother, his father was now back from Vietnam and in Dave’s life on a regular basis.  This was the most difficult time of his life, due to his fathers rage and abuse.  While going to Corona Del Mar High School, Dave had picked up surfing and body surfing for a sport.  By the age of 18, after seeing pictures in Surfer magazine, Dave was off to Maui, Hawaii, where he has resided for the past 38 years (2008).  Dave started off on Maui with a party lifestyle, but shortly after his arrival he began to read the Bible regularly.  He even spent his inheritance money on purchasing Bibles to hand out to all who would take them. At this time, he had hooked up with some friends that would study and discuss the scriptures regularly.  Unfortunately, one of the most influential of the friends, Peter Whitehead (A Corona Del Mar graduate), would lead himself, and three others, to jump off a cliff with himself and Christine Bartalone (A classmate of Dave’s at Corona Del Mar) not surviving the fall.  Dave was very much disillusioned in his faith because of this tragedy.  He would not pursue Jesus and the scriptures for another thirty years.  During this time, he would give himself to the drug and night life seen on Maui, and to surfing the big waves of the north shore, where he developed the nick name of “Dangerous Dave”, or “Double D”.  This name was also applied to his involvement in the drug seen as well. It was during this time that God would bring something so good out of a lifestyle that was so bad.  In 1986, his daughter Maggie was born.  It was through her, that God would really begin to touch and soften Dave’s heart.  She became his delight and would begin to groom his heart to be drawn back to The Fathers heart of love.

In the late eighties, early nineties, Dave’s life would begin to fall apart before his eyes.  His back went out on him, preventing him from surfing and even from working.  His T-shirt business was failing, and he was nearly to the point of going on welfare.  With no money, there was no night life, and the only thing left to hold on to was the drugs. In 2003, one night after realizing that he was not able to resist a half gram of cocaine, Dave realized that he needed to ask God for help.  He had always thought that he could handle things himself and that God was to busy to help him.  He was broken and at the end of himself when he called out to God for help. He had considered cocaine to be the way to ascend to God, and to escape the pains that life had hit him with. Shortly after that prayer, one night, after doing a lot of cocaine, Dave had a dream of Jesus, or an angel, telling him that his pursuit of God to ascend higher was a good pursuit, but that he was going about it in the wrong way.  The next day he began to read the scriptures again. He also began to preach to his friend Anastacia.  He began to say how that this was all the wrong way to go about life, the wrong way to get peace and comfort from life’s pains, and the wrong way to pursue God.  After two weeks of continuing to use cocaine everyday and reading the Bible everyday, Dave finally said to a friend who had asked him to do some coke one day, “I don’t need that s- - t anymore!”  Dave’s life has never been the same since that day in 2003!  His friend Anastacia, who was the recipient of his preaching during this time, says, “Never have I seen such a change in a person, as I’ve seen with “Double D”.

Dave had often been the topic of Church meetings in Gary’s (Gary Parrish) house.  Gary explains it like this, “Often, the meetings would consist primarily of intercessory prayer.  The Holy Spirit was powerfully praying for Dave in these meetings. We could just tell that the prayers were getting through, the presence of the Holy Spirit was so “thick”, can’t really explain it beyond that”.  All of heaven has rejoiced with this brother, who was dead, and is alive again; which was lost, and is found!  (Luke 15:32)  Dave is Gary’s brother through Dave’s father “Goody” (Gary’s stepfather), but now, much more than this, are they brothers in Jesus with God himself as their father! On Goody’s death bed in 2001, Gary was able to lead Goody to experience the forgiveness and peace of God through the Goodnews of Jesus!

Dave now ministers daily to the homeless in Lahaina, feeding them and always pointing them to the living reality of the presence of the Holy Spirit through the power of the Goodnews of Jesus!  Gary has never seen anyone be so transformed before his eyes as Dave has transformed, nor has he seen anyone so consume the scriptures.  Dave now plays the role of a John the Baptist/Elijah/Lonnie Frisbee Wildman for Bible Prophecy Fulfilled.  He has handed out thousands of pages of articles from the website, and he even carries a HUGE sign on the side of his van, which says,

“WE’RE NOT IN THE LAST DAYS, WWW.BIBLEPROPHECYFULFILLED.ORG”.

He parks it on the edge of the highway, in store fronts, and even in the parking lot of Churches!  For complaints, call Dave at (808) 250-2870.  Ask for Lahaina Dave, or Disciple Dave, because if you ask for “Dangerous Dave”, you’ll hear those infamous words, “Dangerous Dave’s not here!”

On Front Street

At Foodland , moments later, "Maximo" (on the right) literally began to weep, confessing that "Im a sinner, and I'm scared about if I die, where do I go?" Through leading him in the prayer of faith towards Jesus' cross/resurrection, forgiveness, eternal life, and for Jesus' faith and love to replace fear, Maximo's countenance was changed as he made a committment to the word of God, and to seeking out God's people. Never experienced this before, no presentation or preaching etc., and a confession of, "I'm a sinner..."
