Terrance Kashian was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is the Oldest of
six
children. Terry came to faith at the age of 19 in a dramatic
conversion. It was a simple
sign in the window of a Christian Café that spoke to
Terry’s heart. It was at a very
desperate time in his life when he read the simple word’s
“Jesus Loves You.” It was a
sign, which he found out later, that had been written by a seven year
old girl. The
simplicity of the statement came alive to Terry and began within him a
quest to pursue
the depth and reality of such a simple statement. Terry was an avid
reader and began to
study the scriptures continually.
Not long after his conversion he began to attend Bible School at Burean
Bible school,
in Key West, Florida. This was a very short lived experience for Terry,
as he would learn
that God was leading him not to be taught of men, but by Spirit of the
father. In this, he
would experience the Spirit planting others organically in his life to
teach him, not
organizationally through the systems of men. He would then go west to
Phoenix,
Arizona, where he first came into the “Home Church
Experience.” It was there, that
Terry developed his teaching gift as he would teach in most meetings.
Through a
member in the Church there, he met his future wife Susie. They married
in 1980, and
began meeting in their home as the Church in Tucson. They had these
meetings in their
home for about 24 years.
Around 1986, Terry read a book entitled “The
Parousia”, by James Stuart Russell. He
came across the book through a subscription he had to “Great
Christian Books“, now
known as “Christian Book Distributors.” This
company was greatly influenced at the
time by Walt Hibbard. (www.Preteristviewpoint.com) After
reading the book, Terry
threw the book full force into the wall shouting, “No
way!” It had challenged him to the
core. He faced this challenge and began to concede to the
author’s conclusions. The
book went through every single scripture in the New Testament that used
the Greek word
“Parousia”, which means coming presence. The author
gave extensive detail to the
context of each usage of the word, and subscribed them all to the first
century. Terry was
revolutionized in how the scriptures simply opened up (Luke 24:45) and
became so much
clearer to him. With this excitement for the word of God, he began to
teach on these
matters at the home meetings. At one such meeting, many church members
literally
stood up together and walked out of the meeting. He would suffer much
rejection and
misunderstandings from many others over the years on this matter of
eschatology. Yet,
he has stood firm and faithful to the truth of scripture regardless of
the cost. He has been
a stable support for many over the years, including Gary and Mike. He
continues his
quest and hunger for the truth of the word of God.
Terry has four children, all grown up now, with the exception of
Jonathon who’s eight
years old. Terry and Susie are hard working people, laboring in the
word, in their family,
in ministering to God’s people, and in their job’s.
